Don't know with softdevice but with xine it has always worked perfectly here. What I would like is to try the non mpeg2 ones...
With the correct codecs, no. Decoding 1080i in software requires a LOT of horsepower, though. I'm hoping that a VIA Unichrome Pro can do most of it in hardware - HDCP issues set aside for a moment. I don't expect any of these channels going to be FTA for very long.
